Gina Campbell - Assistant Principal

Hey Vassiliadis Cubs!

I’m Gina Campbell, your new Assistant Principal.  I am thrilled to be back in Summerlin, where my educational career started out.

I was born and raised in Michigan and am a proud graduate of Eastern Michigan University, where I earned my Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education.  I moved to Nevada and began my career at Linda Rankin Givens Elementary School here in Summerlin, as a fifth grade teacher.  I taught there for 10 years before making the leap into administration.  I received my Masters of Education in Advanced Teaching and Leadership with a Specialization in Administration from Sierra Nevada College and attended Clark County School District’s Leadership Program.  From there, I journeyed over to the Centennial area to become the Dean of Students at Justice Myron E. Leavitt Middle School. I spent three years as the Dean, and was anxious to get back into elementary.   I soon became the Assistant Principal of Ruthe Deskin Elementary School, where I have been for the past three years.  I am honored to be joining the V Team here at Vassiliadis.

My wonderful husband Michael is a Police Sergeant and we have identical twin girls, who were born in 2017.  Our adventurous family enjoys weekend getaways in our RV, hiking Red Rock Canyon, running half marathons, and watching movies.  When I’m able to sneak away for me time, you can find me hanging out with my soccer team on Sundays at Las Vegas Indoor Soccer.  Our family believes that staying active, trying new things, and always being supportive of one another is the key to remaining healthy and happy.

My educational philosophy is simple, “Students want to know how much you care before they care how much you know.”  Building relationships with our students is the foundation of what we do as educators.  It is imperative that our students can rely on us, trust us, and seek us out when they need assistance, and I look forward to building those relationships with not only our students, but with our community as well.  Let’s make this a great year, together!
