3rd Grade Team
Hello Vassiliadis families! My name is Mrs. Kamp-Berger and I have been teaching since 2006. I helped open Vassiliadis Elementary School in 2017, and third grade is my favorite grade! I’m originally from beautiful San Diego, California and I attended San Diego State University (go Aztecs!!) where I received my Bachelor’s degree with summa cum laude honors and completed my teacher credentialing program. I also have a Master of Education degree with an emphasis in differentiated instruction. I come from a family of educators, so teaching and education have always been an important part of my life. Besides teaching, I love reading and going to the park every day with our black lab named Olive to let her roll around in the grass. My favorite book to read to students is The Hippo-Not-A-Mus by Tony and Jan Payne. Maybe I’ll see you in my class so that I can share it with you!
Hello! My name is Christa Hsu and I am excited to be a part of the Vassiliadis family! I was born and raised in Iowa, and graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in kinesiology and health education. After graduating, I moved to Las Vegas and started my career in health education for local high schools and organizations. This led me to my next fun adventure as a personal trainer for over 10 years. In 2013, I began my transition into elementary education when my oldest child started kindergarten. I graduated from UNLV with my Master's Degree in Elementary Education in 2015, and taught 3rd grade at Lummis Elementary for almost 6 years before coming to Vassiliadis.
I have been married for over 14 years to my husband Arthur and we have two children and a dog. Our daughter Kennedy is going into 9th grade, our son Aidan is going into 5th grade this year, and our dog Ginger is cruising into her 6th year as our loving family pet. We enjoy staying busy with their school and after school activities, but more than anything we love spending time together cooking, playing games, and watching movies. In my rare spare time, I enjoy cheering on my favorite sports teams, working out, being outside, recipe hunting, crocheting, and spending time with family and friends.
I absolutely love being a teacher! I believe in providing a positive, structured, and nurturing learning environment where each student feels supported in challenging themselves and reaching their goals. I am thrilled to be kicking off this school year with the incredible staff and community at Vassiliadis! I look forward to a fun and memorable year.
Welcome, my name is Mr. Komuro. My journey began in California and after living there my entire life I decided to try something new. I moved to Las Vegas in 2001 and graduated from UNLV with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and received my Masters of Education in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University. I also have completed advanced studies certifications in Technological Innovations in Teaching and Learning and Emergency Management.
The 2018-2019 school year will be my 14th year teaching and I have taught 2nd and 3rd grade. I began at Martinez Elementary School before moving to Conners Elementary School. I then became a Digital Learning Coach for the Clark County School District. I decided to return to the classroom and taught the Accelerated Learning Model class for 3rd grade at Bozarth Elementary School and coached the 5th grade basketball team there. Now, I am honored to be the Vassiliadis Cub Basketball coach.
During my free time I enjoy getting out on the water to do some fishing. One of my favorite places to go is Mammoth Lakes in California. I have been going there since I was a small child with my parents for summer vacation. It’s my get away place, the place I can relax and enjoy the surroundings.
I’m very excited for the new school year and challenges that come with it. For all of the students that are part of Vassiliadis Elementary School, remember, "You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think."
Hi Cubs! I’m Ms. Gallagher and I’m thrilled to be a part of the Vassiliadis team! I was born and raised in Las Vegas and knew that I wanted to teach way, way back when I was a 1st grader. This year will be my 16th year teaching for CCSD. In those years, I have taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade. I also earned a master's degree in teaching reading and literacy.
Teaching is my passion; I love helping kids realize their potential. I like to think of my classroom as a family. If I am lucky enough to have you in my class, I hope you feel at home. We will work together as a team to help everyone achieve.
When I’m not teaching, you may find me hiking around the mountain in my backyard with my husband and two kids. During the summers I love spending most of my time exploring Australia (where my husband is from). My son, Jackson, is a 5th grader and my daughter, Lila, is in 4th grade at Vassiliadis.
I am looking forward to a great year!
Hi families! My name is Mrs. Stilson. I was born in The Windy City, Chicago, Illinois. GO CUBS! I was raised in Las Vegas, attended Bonner Elementary School, Becker Middle School and Northwest Career and Technical Academy. I studied architecture at UNLV when I found out that my real passion was teaching. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and couldn’t be happier!
Creating art is one of my favorite things to do, especially painting! My favorite things to paint are nature scenes. I have painted a mural in my own backyard as well as canvas oil paintings. I love trying new things and am currently experimenting with water colors. I love to bring creativity into the classroom and create unique learning experiences for my students. I truly believe that a picture says a thousand words. I can’t wait to see the beautiful picture we create this school year!
I am so thrilled to hear about all of your summer adventures and kick off our school year. We will learn so much this year and have a great time doing it! Get ready to have the BEST third grade year!
My name is Mr. Simons and I’m a native of Queensland, Australia. In 2019, my wife convinced me to swap the long sandy beaches and leafy suburbs of South East Queensland for the bright lights of Las Vegas.
Although Las Vegas is new to me, teaching is not. In 2003, I completed my Bachelor of Education at the Queensland University of Technology and have spent my professional career educating students from kindergarten through 10th grade. I spent the 20-21 school year teaching 4th grade at Shelley Berkley Elementary but Vassiliadis was always like my extended family. My kids attend here and my wife, Mrs. Gallagher, teaches here as well.
As a teacher, my goal is to encourage kids to become lifelong learners who constantly strive to reach their full potential. I am so honored to be teaching 3rd grade at this amazing school because 3rd grade is a magical year when students begin owning their learning.
When I’m not teaching, I enjoy boxing training. In my younger years, I was a competitive boxer. These days, I just enjoy training and coaching. Most American sports are new to me but I love hockey. I am a huge Golden Knights fan. I also enjoy spending time with my family. I have two big kids (Jackson and Lila) and a new baby named Archer who all keep me busy.
Third graders, are you ready for an amazing adventure? I promise you will love 3rd grade. With diligence and integrity, we are going to laugh and work together as a team. I can’t wait to meet you!
Hi Cubs! What a privilege it is to be a member of the Vassiliadis family! I'm Mrs. Page, and prior to coming aboard, I taught first and fourth grade in the Clark County School District. One of my priorities is to build great parent/teacher relationships because I’ve seen firsthand how they can contribute to a student’s academic success. With that in mind, here is a little bit about myself: I strive to create a warm classroom environment where all students feel valued and challenged, I am a proud wife of a Battalion Chief for the Clark County Fire Department, and mother of three children, two of which attend school at Vassiliadis. I’m currently working toward obtaining my M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction at UNLV, but before becoming a teacher, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Media Studies at UNLV. I worked for many years as a photographer shooting weddings, portraits and eventually working for various agencies in Portland, Oregon. Outside of school, I stay busy with my childrens’ athletics, taking care of our little farm, and pursuing all kinds of outdoor adventures. In the classroom, I’m fortunate to be very passionate about the work I get to do and my students’ success. I feel lucky to call Vassiliadis home because it’s a very special community of learners that I truly appreciate!
