3rd Grade Team
Hello Vassiliadis families! My name is Mrs. Kamp-Berger and the 2018 – 2019 school year marks my 13th year teaching. I am extremely excited to begin my second year at Vassiliadis Elementary School, while teaching my favorite grade! I’m originally from beautiful San Diego, California and I attended San Diego State University (go Aztecs!!) where I received my Bachelor’s degree with summa cum laude honors and completed my teacher credentialing program. I also have a Master of Education degree with an emphasis in differentiated instruction. I come from a family of educators, so teaching and education have always been an important part of my life. Besides teaching, I love reading and going to the park every day with our black lab named Olive to let her roll around in the grass. My favorite book to read to students is The Hippo-Not-A-Mus by Tony and Jan Payne. Maybe I’ll see you in my class so that I can share it with you!
Hello! My name is Mrs. Sotelo and I am thrilled to be at Vassiliadis Elementary School! I am originally from Indiana but have been in Las Vegas for over 30 years. I received my Bachelors in Communication at UNLV but a career change lead me to teaching and I LOVE IT! I obtained my Masters in Elementary Education and haven’t looked back. I am so lucky to be surrounded by amazing educators and I am inspired by my students on a daily basis. My goal is to prepare them for success both inside and outside of the classroom. I am married and have three children; two boys and a girl. Family is a priority and I have an amazing one! I love spending time outdoors and experiencing the excitement of life through the eyes of my kids. My two other loves are food and the Chicago Cubs! I can be caught watching about any show on the Food Network Channel. I am overjoyed to be teaching at the BEST school in the world and love being part of a family and community that values education and promotes student growth and achievement!
Welcome, my name is Mr. Komuro. My journey began in California and after living there my entire life I decided to try something new. I moved to Las Vegas in 2001 and graduated from UNLV with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and received my Masters of Education in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University. I also have completed advanced studies certifications in Technological Innovations in Teaching and Learning and Emergency Management.
The 2018-2019 school year will be my 14th year teaching and I have taught 2nd and 3rd grade. I began at Martinez Elementary School before moving to Conners Elementary School. I then became a Digital Learning Coach for the Clark County School District. I decided to return to the classroom and taught the Accelerated Learning Model class for 3rd grade at Bozarth Elementary School and coached the 5th grade basketball team there. Now, I am honored to be the Vassiliadis Cub Basketball coach.
During my free time I enjoy getting out on the water to do some fishing. One of my favorite places to go is Mammoth Lakes in California. I have been going there since I was a small child with my parents for summer vacation. It’s my get away place, the place I can relax and enjoy the surroundings.
I’m very excited for the new school year and challenges that come with it. For all of the students that are part of Vassiliadis Elementary School, remember, "You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think."
Hello! I am thrilled to be a part of the Vassiliadis team this year. Although this is my first year at Vassiliadis, it is my 14th year teaching. I have my master's degree in teaching reading and literacy.
Teaching is my passion; I love it. I like to think of my classroom as a family. If I am lucky enough to have you in my class, I hope you feel at home. We will work together as a team to help everyone achieve.
I am a Las Vegas native and I have two beautiful kids of my own. My son, Jackson, is a third grader and my daughter, Lila, is in second grade. They are excited to be a part of the Cubs’ family this year!
When I'm not at school or playing with my kids, you can find me kickboxing.
I am looking forward to a great year!
Hi families! My name is Laura Olsen. I was born in The Windy City, Chicago, Illinois. GO CUBS! I was raised in Las Vegas, attended Bonner Elementary School, Becker Middle School and Northwest Career and Technical Academy. I studied architecture at UNLV when I found out that my real passion was teaching. I received my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and couldn’t be happier!
Creating art is one of my favorite things to do, especially painting! My favorite things to paint are nature scenes. I have painted a mural in my own backyard as well as canvas oil paintings. I love trying new things and am currently experimenting with water colors. I truly believe that a picture says a thousand words. I can’t wait to see the beautiful picture we create! When I’m not painting, my fiancé and I enjoy planning for our upcoming wedding and going bowling.
I am so thrilled to hear about all of your summer adventures and kick off our school year. We will learn so much this year and have a great time doing it! Get ready to have the BEST third grade year!
Hi families! I am so thrilled to be joining the Vassiliadis family this year! The 2019-2020 school year will be my 11th year teaching in the Clark County School District. I was born and raised in Las Vegas and attended CCSD schools. I later went to study at the University of Nevada Reno, where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. GO PACK! I also have a Master’s Degree in Curriculum Instruction with an emphasis in e-Learning/Technology and am currently enrolled in a teacher leadership program through a partnership with UNLV and SNRPDP. After graduating from UNR, I moved back to Las Vegas to be closer to my family.
My passion is teaching and inspiring students to be lifelong learners. I have taught a k-2 combination class at Odyssey Charter School, 1st grade, 3rd grade and was the PBIS Internal Coach at Eileen Conners Elementary School. I was a 3rd grade teacher and K-5 Reading Interventionist at James B. McMillan Elementary School.
When I am not teaching and spending time with the amazing students that I get to work with daily, I am spending time with my husband and 2 children. We have a 5 year old daughter (Charli Mae) who is as spunky as they come and a 3 year old son (Rhett) that really keeps us on our toes with his wild stunts and fiery personality! You can also find me reading a good book or working out at home or in a Crossfit gym. I cannot wait to meet all of your smiling faces and have an awesome year together!
