3rd Grade Team

Alexis Kamp-Berger

Hello Vassiliadis families!  My name is Mrs. Kamp-Berger and I have been teaching since 2006.  I helped open Vassiliadis Elementary School in 2017, and third grade is my favorite grade!  I’m originally from beautiful San Diego, California and I attended San Diego State University (go Aztecs!!) where I received my Bachelor’s degree with summa cum laude honors and completed my teacher credentialing program.  I also have a Master of Education degree with an emphasis in differentiated instruction.  I come from a family of educators, so teaching and education have always been an important part of my life.  Besides teaching, I love reading and going to the park every day with our black lab named Olive to let her roll around in the grass.  My favorite book to read to students is The Hippo-Not-A-Mus by Tony and Jan Payne.  Maybe I’ll see you in my class so that I can share it with you!

Jill Sotelo

Hello! My name is Mrs. Sotelo and I am thrilled to be at Vassiliadis Elementary School! I am originally from Indiana but have been in Las Vegas for over 30 years. I received my Bachelors in Communication at UNLV but a career change lead me to teaching and I LOVE IT! I obtained my Masters in Elementary Education and haven’t looked back. I am so lucky to be surrounded by amazing educators and I am inspired by my students on a daily basis.  My goal is to prepare them for success both inside and outside of the classroom. I am married and have three children; two boys and a girl. Family is a priority and I have an amazing one! I love spending time outdoors and experiencing the excitement of life through the eyes of my kids. My two other loves are food and the Chicago Cubs! I can be caught watching about any show on the Food Network Channel. I am overjoyed to be teaching at the BEST school in the world and love being part of a family and community that values education and promotes student growth and achievement!

Brandon Komuro

Welcome, my name is Mr. Komuro.  My journey began in California and after living there my entire life I decided to try something new. I moved to Las Vegas in 2001 and graduated from UNLV with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and received my Masters of Education in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University. I also have completed advanced studies certifications in Technological Innovations in Teaching and Learning and Emergency Management.

The 2018-2019 school year will be my 14th year teaching and I have taught 2nd and 3rd grade. I began at Martinez Elementary School before moving to Conners Elementary School. I then became a Digital Learning Coach for the Clark County School District.  I decided to return to the classroom and taught the Accelerated Learning Model class for 3rd grade at Bozarth Elementary School and coached the 5th grade basketball team there.  Now, I am honored to be the Vassiliadis Cub Basketball coach.

During my free time I enjoy getting out on the water to do some fishing. One of my favorite places to go is Mammoth Lakes in California. I have been going there since I was a small child with my parents for summer vacation. It’s my get away place, the place I can relax and enjoy the surroundings.

I’m very excited for the new school year and challenges that come with it. For all of the students that are part of Vassiliadis Elementary School, remember, "You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think."

Laura Gallagher

Hi Cubs! I’m Ms. Gallagher and I’m thrilled to be a part of the Vassiliadis team! I was born and raised in Las Vegas and knew that I wanted to teach way, way back when I was a 1st grader. This year will be my 16th year teaching for CCSD. In those years, I have taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade. I also earned a master's degree in teaching reading and literacy.

Teaching is my passion; I love helping kids realize their potential. I like to think of my classroom as a family. If I am lucky enough to have you in my class, I hope you feel at home. We will work together as a team to help everyone achieve.

When I’m not teaching, you may find me hiking around the mountain in my backyard with my husband and two kids. During the summers I love spending most of my time exploring Australia (where my husband is from). My son, Jackson, is a 5th grader and my daughter, Lila, is in 4th grade at Vassiliadis.

I am looking forward to a great year!

Laura Stilson

Hi families! My name is Mrs. Stilson. I was born in The Windy City, Chicago, Illinois. GO CUBS! I was raised in Las Vegas, attended Bonner Elementary School, Becker Middle School and Northwest Career and Technical Academy. I studied architecture at UNLV when I found out that my real passion was teaching. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and couldn’t be happier!

Creating art is one of my favorite things to do, especially painting! My favorite things to paint are nature scenes. I have painted a mural in my own backyard as well as canvas oil paintings. I love trying new things and am currently experimenting with water colors. I love to bring creativity into the classroom and create unique learning experiences for my students. I truly believe that a picture says a thousand words. I can’t wait to see the beautiful picture we create this school year!

I am so thrilled to hear about all of your summer adventures and kick off our school year. We will learn so much this year and have a great time doing it! Get ready to have the BEST third grade year!

Brittany Dickinson

Hi families! I am so excited to be starting my second year at Vassiliadis! The 2020-2021 school year will be my 12th year teaching in the Clark County School District. I was born and raised in Las Vegas and attended all CCSD public schools. I later went to study at the University of Nevada Reno, where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. GO PACK! I also have a Master’s Degree in Curriculum Instruction with an emphasis in e-Learning/Technology and am currently enrolled in a teacher leadership program through a partnership with UNLV and SNRPDP. After graduating from UNR, I moved back to Las Vegas to be closer to my family.

My passion is teaching and inspiring students to be lifelong learners while having fun at the same time. We will work hard and play hard all year to ensure we learn the curriculum in exciting ways.

When I am not teaching and spending time with the amazing students that I get to work with daily, I am spending time with my husband and 2 kids. We have a 6 year old daughter (Charli Mae) who is as spunky as they come and a 4 year old son (Rhett) that really keeps us on our toes with his wild stunts and fiery personality! When I am not teaching, you can find me reading a good book, working out or spending time outdoors with my family. I cannot wait to meet all of your smiling faces and have an awesome year together!

Crecia Page

Hi Cubs! What a privilege to be joining the Vassiliadis family as a third-grade teacher! I'm Mrs. Page, and prior to coming aboard, I taught first and fourth grade in the Clark County School District. One of my priorities is to build great parent/teacher relationships because I’ve seen firsthand how they contribute to students’ academic success. With that in mind, here is a little bit about myself: I strive to create a warm classroom environment where all students feel valued and challenged, I am a proud wife of a Battalion Chief for the Clark County Fire Department, and mother of three children, two of which are huge Percy Jackson fans and attend school at Vassiliadis. I’m currently working toward obtaining my M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction at UNLV, but before becoming a teacher, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Media studies and worked for many years as a photographer shooting weddings, portraits and eventually working for various agencies in Portland, Oregon. Outside of school, I stay busy with my baby girl, taking care of our little farm with pigs, goats, and chickens, and pursuing all kinds of outdoor adventures. But most importantly, I'm very excited to be teaching at Vassiliadis this year. It’s a very special community of learners that I’ve been really hoping and looking forward to becoming a part of.
