5th Grade Team
Originally from San Antonio, Texas, I moved to Las Vegas with my family in 1989. I graduated from Cimarron-Memorial High School and attended UNLV where I earned my degree in Elementary Education. I have taught both elementary and middle school for CCSD and have been teaching for 12 years.
My husband and I have five very active children who work hard in the classroom, on the soccer and football field, as well as giving back to the community. When I am not running my kids around town, I actually like to run for fun! My sisters and I like to sign up for half-marathons and 15k races here in Vegas. Some other hobbies of mine include cooking, reading, and watching movies.
My favorite genre to read is historical fiction, and my favorite author is Kate Morton. Her style of writing makes me want to be one of the characters in her novels. We will read various novels in our class that challenge students to really think about the author’s craft and hopefully inspire them to get lost in a good book.
To all my incoming students, know that a special classroom awaits you! We will work hard, play hard, and do our best to prepare for middle school.
Hello!! My name is Vicki Vesp and I am beyond excited to teaching 5th grade at Vassiliadis Elementary School. I was born in Newport Beach, California, but moved to Las Vegas as a small child. Most of my childhood was spent growing up in Boulder City. I am a product of the CCSD and very proud of it!!! I received my Bachelors of Elementary Education and Masters at UNLV and taught in the district full time since 2002. I originally substitute taught while my own children were young and taught at Bonner Elementary School for 14 years. I have been a part of the Summerlin community for twenty-six years, teaching 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade and absolutely love my 5th graders. It is extremely rewarding to watch my students grow into successful individuals.
I have been married for 26 years to my husband Gavin and we have two grown daughters, Taylor 25 and Mackenzie 22. I love spending as much time together as possible. I love traveling, shopping, cooking, going out to dinner, and just spending time with family and friends.
My favorite author is Judy Blume. I loved her as a child and like her even more as an adult. I believe that books teach us all kinds of life lessons. I can’t wait for the 2018-2019 school year to begin. My students become part of my life and preparing them for middle school is the adventure we will take together.

Hello to our new Vassiliadis students and families! I love being part of the fifth grade team and the wonderful school community here at Vassiliadis Elementary School. I am originally from a rural town in Illinois. There were only 35 students in my graduating class and 850 people in the entire town! I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Western Illinois University and a Master’s Degree in Special Education from BYU. Throughout my teaching career (26 years) I have taught fourth grade, resource, and fifth grade. I have taught in the states of Illinois, Utah, Iowa, and Nevada. In 1999, I moved to Las Vegas with my husband and two children. We now have four children, 3 boys and 1 girl. My three boys have since graduated from CCSD and are either attending college or serving a church mission. My daughter is a seventh grader at Rogich Middle School and last year was the first year that I did not have any of my children with me at school Through the years I have sat through hours and hours of baseball, basketball, and football games cheering on my boys! Now we spend our weekends at gymnastics meets.
In my spare time you can find me reading or shopping. I have an extensive classroom library and love sharing my passion for reading with my class. We also spend a lot of our summer and long weekends in Newport Beach, CA. Reading on the beach is a luxury I look forward to after finishing a great school year! I am looking forward to meeting the families of Vassiliadis ES and especially those fabulous fifth graders!
Hi! My name is Mrs. Guía and I am thrilled to be a part of the fifth-grade team at Vassiliadis! I am originally from Columbus, Indiana, but have lived in Las Vegas for the past 18 years. I attended Purdue University for a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, then went on to graduate from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. While working at the Waldorf=Astoria in New York, I met my, now, husband of 24 years. We have two wonderful children. Spencer is a senior at ASU in Computer Engineering and Madeline is a sophomore at UNLV in pre-nursing. When my kids were younger, I was lucky enough to be a stay-at-home mom before returning to school to earn my teaching degree. This is my 11th year teaching in the Clark County School District.
In my downtime, I enjoy hiking and camping with my three dogs, knitting, making cheese. I love reading and science and I hope my 5th grade students will develop a passion for both. My students can expect to engage in collaborative, hands-on activities where they can think critically and make connections. I am looking forward to making the journey towards middle school with my fifth graders!
