Victoria Vesp - Library

Vesp, Victoria.jpg

Hello! My name is Vicki Vesp, and I am beyond excited to be teaching the library special at Vassiliadis Elementary School. I was born in Newport Beach, California, but moved to Las Vegas as a young child. I spent most of my childhood growing up in Boulder City and am a proud product of CCSD!

I earned both my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and my Master’s Degree from UNLV, and I have been teaching in the district full-time since 2002. I began my career as a substitute teacher while my own children were young, and later taught at Bonner Elementary School for 14 years. I have been part of the Summerlin community for over 30 years, teaching 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. I have proudly been part of Vassiliadis Elementary School since it opened in 2017, which has been an incredible experience. Teaching is truly my passion, and I find it incredibly rewarding to watch my students grow into confident, successful individuals. I have also been actively involved in Student Council and Cheer, and I love seeing our students shine both inside and outside the classroom.

I have been married to my husband Gavin for 34 wonderful years. We have two grown daughters, Taylor and Mackenzie, and two grandchildren, Beau and Lainey. I cherish every opportunity to spend time with my family—especially enjoying those special grandma snuggles! In my free time, I enjoy traveling, shopping, cooking, dining out, and spending time with family and friends.

My favorite author is Judy Blume. I loved her books as a child and appreciate them even more as an adult. I truly believe that books teach us valuable life lessons, and I am excited to share that love of reading with my students.

I look forward to a wonderful school year ahead. My students become a special part of my life, and helping prepare them for the next steps in their journey is an adventure we will take together.

Smith, Jolyn.jpg

Hello friends! I am the Music Teacher. I love teaching music at Vassiliadis. We have the best kids in the valley right here. Go Cubs!

About me: I grew up in a lake home near Spokane, WA. I love the outdoors, skiing, hiking, camping, and reading a good book. I come from a big loving and supportive family. I have two daughters who are all grown up and on their own now. I love teaching elementary kids, because they keep me young at heart and make me laugh every day.

I have been teaching for roughly a million years. I have a Bachelor's in Music Education from University of Northern Colorado, a Master's in Technology Supported Education from Eastern Washington University, an Education Specialist (Masters+) degree in School Administration from Nova Southeastern University, an endorsement in Teaching English as a Second Language, and I am a National Board Certified Teacher in Early and Middle Childhood Music.

I am looking forward to using all my experience and background to bring the love of music to all K-5 students at Vassiliadis as we explore singing, dancing, and playing music on a variety of instruments. We will also have extra curricular performance groups for our upper grade students. It's going to be a great year!

Davide Ghilarducci - Physical Education

Ghilarducci, Davide.jpg

Hello! I'm Mr. Ghilarducci and I’m excited to be a part of the Vassiliadis family. I am originally from Sunnyvale, California which is located in the Bay Area. My family and I moved to Las Vegas roughly five years ago. I attended Fresno State for my BA in Liberal Arts and got my teaching credential at San Jose State. This will be my sixteenth year teaching and seventh year in elementary. I taught 6th grade the previous nine years, where I developed a love of physical education while teaching this to my students. When I moved to Las Vegas I made the transfer to down  elementary school and have been enjoying it ever since.

When I am not busy at work, I am blessed to have an amazing wife and two awesome kids. My wife Ali and I enjoy exploring what Las Vegas has to offer with our kids. Makena and Myles keep us busy with their crazy amount of energy and enthusiasm. If we are not checking out a new park, we are at home playing some crazy games. During my extra time, when I'm not with my kids, I enjoy baking, playing football (and coaching our Vassiliadis Cubs football team), building LEGO, and playing video games. I am beyond excited to be working with all the amazing students and families at Vassiliadis.

Greg Gusmerotti - Physical Education

Gusmerotti, Greg.jpg

Hello to the community of Vassiliadis Elementary School.  My name is Greg Gusmerotti and I am excited and honored to be a part of such a special community and team.
I grew up in New York and moved to Las Vegas in 1999.  I suppose that is where I developed my passion for pizza and the NY Jets.  Luckily pizza doesn’t let me down as much as my NY Jets, but I still love them.   I enjoy the outdoor weather and being so close to Utah, as I still get the opportunity to do a little snow skiing.
My hobbies include mountain bike riding, disc golf, all sports, and escape rooms. In 1996 I received a B.A. in Business and worked as manager of a financial institution back in New York.  In 1999 my brother recruited me to help him buy a restaurant here in Vegas.  In 2001 I made the best decision of my life, I followed
my heart and went back to school to earn my Masters in Education.  I have been living my dream for the last 24 years.  I have been fortunate to work in CCSD with some amazing teachers and incredible students for the last 24 years. After working in first grade for 17 years, I am fortunate to move into a position where I
will be able to reach out and help more students in our community on a daily basis as the PE teacher.  Every day in school with such incredible students is truly a gift.
I am lucky enough to be joined in the Vassiliadis’ community with my wife Jeanine, who teaches second grade. My daughter Isabella is a Vassiliadis graduate and will be attending University of Utah this year. My son Trevor, also a Vassiliadis graduate, is a 11th grader at Faith Lutheran.  My family is so special to me and I am ecstatic to have them along for the ride. My goal is to create a fun environment and instill a passion for fitness.  I am looking forward to an incredible year!

Veronica Swenson - GATE

Swenson, Veronica.jpg

Hello Cubs! My name is Veronica Swenson, and I am so excited to welcome you to the Gifted and Talented Education Program here at Vassiliadis!

Born and raised in Las Vegas, I graduated from UNLV with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. When my daughters were younger, our family moved to Minnesota, where I earned my first master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from St. Mary’s University. Since returning to Las Vegas, I have had the joy of teaching second, third, and fifth grades. In 2021, I earned my Gifted and Talented Education endorsement and have been passionate about advocating for and enriching creative minds ever since.

Because of my deep love for learning, I also earned a second master’s degree in English Language Acquisition and Development from UNLV. Supporting diverse language learners and celebrating their academic growth is especially meaningful to me. I also enjoy teaching in UNLV’s ELAD program.

Outside of the classroom, my greatest joy is spending time with my two daughters. Sadie attends UNLV, and Madi attends UNR. We love exploring bookstores and discovering new coffee shops together. You can often find us taking quick trips to Southern California to soak up the sun and recharge at the beach. When we’re at home, we enjoy watching movies, listening to great music, reading, baking, or spending time with our two dogs, Sam and Stella.

Teaching is both my passion and my purpose. I truly love learning alongside my students and supporting their growth through a whole-child approach to education.

Christa Hsu - GATE

Hsu, Christa.jpg

My name is Christa Hsu, and I have been in education since 2014. I am originally from Iowa and a graduate of Iowa State University. After moving to Las Vegas, I began my career in health education while also working as a personal trainer. In 2015, I earned my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from UNLV and have since spent several years teaching 3rd and 4th grade.

This year, I am excited to transition into my role as a Gifted and Talented Education teacher after earning my GATE endorsement. I look forward to supporting advanced learners through engaging experiences that foster critical thinking, creativity, and a love of learning.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, staying active, cheering on my favorite sports teams, and being outdoors. I am proud to be part of our amazing Vassiliadis community and look forward to a meaningful and enriching year ahead.

Julie Moffett - Counselor

Moffett, Julie.jpg

I feel really lucky to be part of the Vassiliadis community. It’s a place I truly love, filled with people who care deeply about kids and support each other every day. Being surrounded by that kind of team pushes me to do my best for our students and families.

I’m Vegas born and raised and a product of CCSD. I graduated from Cimarron Memorial High School, earned my degree in Elementary Education from UNLV, and my master’s in School Counseling from UOP. This is my 22nd year in education. I spent 12 years teaching kindergarten and 1st grade, and I’m now in my 10th year as a school counselor.

I’m a proud mom of three and newly and happily married. This year is a big one for our family—my oldest is starting high school, my middle is in 7th grade, and my youngest is beginning middle school. It’s been fun, and a little surreal, watching them grow and find their own paths.

When I’m not at school, I love spending time with family and friends; especially game nights, line dancing, going to the movies, and relaxing at home.

The best part of my job is getting to know students, celebrating their wins, and helping them work through real-life situations. I want kids to feel seen, supported, and proud of who they are. My goal is to help them grow not just academically, but emotionally too—because even small choices to be kinder or do better can make a big difference.

Jennifer Kelly - STEAM

Kelly, Jennifer.jpg

Hi Cubs! I’m excited to be starting another great year as part of the Vassiliadis family! Teaching STEAM is the perfect fit for me because I LOVE SCIENCE! It’s so wonderful to watch students discover new things about the world around them everyday and I love being a part of that.
I was born and raised in Waterloo, Iowa and earned my Bachelor’s Degree from Iowa State University. I married my husband, Todd in 2003 and we moved to Las Vegas in 2016. We have one son, Brandon and he attends Palo Verde High School. (He was once a Vassiliadis Cub too!) We also have the best dog, a Cavapoo named Rex. I’ve been working in elementary schools since Brandon was in Kindergarten and prior to that I was a Corporate Training and Development Manager for HR companies. I enjoy hiking, skiing in the winter, reading, spending weekends in Utah and discovering new places in our amazing city.
I’m looking forward to another great year in STEAM with all our Vassiliadis Cubs!

I have a deep passion for introducing young learners to art and guiding them through the creative process. In my classroom, students develop an excitement for exploring art, build an appreciation for artistic expression, and create their own masterpieces—leaving with a strong sense of accomplishment and pride.

I grew up in a small rural town in Maine, attended college in Florida, and moved to Las Vegas in 1996. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Florida State University and a Master of Education in Integrated Arts from Lesley University.      My husband is a retired member of the Air Force, and his career gave our family the opportunity to live in many unique places, including Utah, Alaska, the Azores (Terceira Island), and Tokyo, Japan. We have two adult children and a Goldendoodle named Lucy.

In my spare time, I enjoy teaching after-school art classes, drawing and painting, listening to audiobooks, watching movies, skiing, camping, and spending time with my family. I do not have much time to watch television, but when I do, I enjoy shows like Fixer Upper and Property Brothers on HGTV.
